One of the cruelest methods of the Russian military aggression against Ukraine is the manipulation of the world political arena by daily shelling of the Zaporizhia NPP. The failure of the authorities to realize the scale of the tragedy leads to the fact that for several weeks the situation has escalated to such an extent that enemy shells are flying in the immediate vicinity of the power units, and improper maintenance of the station at any moment can lead to disruption of its functioning, and, as a result, a new terrible tragedy .
A similar situation occurred back in the spring, when the Chornobyl NPP fell into the hands of the occupiers. Fortunately, at that time they had the sense to leave experienced Ukrainian specialists at the station, and despite the conditions they were in, they still managed to avoid the station's dysfunction and the explosion of radioactive waste. At that time, the power supply and the cooling system of nuclear material were disrupted, which could threaten the failure of the system and the release of elements into the air. And this is taking into account the fact that the Chornobyl NPP ceased to function after 1986.
It differs from the Zaporizhzhia NPP - the largest nuclear power plant in Europe and the sixth largest in the world, which concentrates a significant part of the energy that supplies Ukraine. The Russian military took more than 14 units of heavy equipment, an innumerable amount of ammunition, weapons and explosives to the territory of the station, as well as, according to preliminary information, about 500 soldiers and turned it into a military base (data as of the end of July). Moreover, all this is not located on the territory of the station, but inside the 1st power unit, in the engine room. And in the event of an accident at a nuclear power plant, which is under daily attack by the Russian armed forces, in which all operating norms are violated, where ammunition can detonate due to negligence - the projected area of damage can reach about 30 thousand km² (for understanding: the area of Ukraine is 603,700 km²). World leaders call on Putin to stop, talk about the ineffectiveness of sanctions and increase pressure on the Russian Federation, and they, in turn, at the official level of high-ranking officials, declare their readiness to blow up the station at any moment, because "there will be either Russian land or a scorched desert."
The situation worsens not every day, but every minute, because the atom does not wait. The IAEA, under whose auspices the Zaporizhia NPP is located, once again emphasizes its "deep concern", but "cannot" do anything. And while the world's politicians are holding their heads and fretting in anticipation of a new Chernobyl, the Russians continue to openly threaten a new tragedy, shell the territory and power units with heavy weapons, and observe the world's "concern"...
